What is CMMC?
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance is a set of standards and practices that US federal government contractors must meet to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) from cyber threats. It was developed by the Department of Defense (DoD) to secure the supply chain and protect sensitive information, data and technology provided by third party contractors and subcontractors. The CMMC compliance is divided into three levels, each of which corresponds to a different level of security and compliance, and the level that a contractor must meet will depend on the type of data and services they provide.
The CMMC compliance is mandatory for all companies that want to bid on contracts that contain Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and the contractors must have a valid CMMC certification before they can be awarded any contract.
